President's Message
Welcome to the 2010 season of the Georgian Bay Golf Superintendents Association. Everyone is looking forward to another great season on the courses. We have made it through a fairly gentle winter in the snow belt and are off with a surprisingly early golf season. Some golf courses in our region opened as early as March 19, which is almost unheard of for this area.
We have solidified our lineup of events for the year. Special thanks to the owners and superintendents who have made their golf course available to us. Our venues are as follows: Hawk Ridge GC, host Deni Terenzio, Muskoka Highlands GC, host Nic Bell, Batteaux Creek GC, host Brad Plummer and Cobble Beach GC, host John Anderson. This is another great list of courses, so let’s get out and support our association.
This year we have made some changes to our payment methods. Our primary source of payment will be through PayPal. Payment by cheque will be another available option. We have made these changes to simplify the process. There will be a prompt to go to PayPal to complete the transaction once you have registered for an event or you are filling out your membership form.
We will be enforcing the Members Only policy. In the past couple of years, we have not been diligent. The only exception to this is that Corporate members will be allowed 1 guest per Corporation per event. Members who show up at events and have not pre-registered will be subject to a $10 fee over and above the event fee.
The GBGSA has had a very long and prosperous existence. The contributions we have made to the GTI, OTRF, Norm McCollum scholarship and our own Scholarship is unprecedented in the regional associations. This is something we can all be proud of. Let’s have another great year.
We will be attempting to have demo day at Batteaux Creek. There will be communication with the industry reps prior to this event to set up demonstrations and locations. This is an excellent time to view new equipment or products available to our industry.
