GBGSA Scholarship Fund

The GBGSA has established a $1000 scholarship to be awarded each year to a student enrolled in a diploma or degree program for the purpose of turfgrass management.

Deadline for applications is September 1st of each year.

The recipient of the scholarship will be based on academic standing and accomplishment at a post secondary institute as well as content of application itself.

To qualify for GBGSA scholarship, applicant must be;

  1. Enrolled in a recognized college or university for the purpose of Turfgrass management
  2. Able to submit proof of enrolment
  3. Or have been employed by a superintendent member of the GBGSA
  4. Able to provide most recent employer and academic advisor for contact
  5. Able to provide a current resume as well as one page letter describing their achievements and goals for the future

OTHER GBGSA INIATIVES

All membership funds go towards initiatives and the cost of running the website.

Guelph Turfgrass Institute contribution:

The GBGSA on behalf of its members contributes $1000 each year to the GTI to further R&D in the turfgrass industry.

Norm McCollum Bursary:

The GBGSA on behalf of its members contribute $500 each year to the Norm McCollum Bursary to assist a student enrolled in turfgrass management. Read a letter from Norm here.

New BAGS tour sponsorship:

This new initiative with JR golf in the Georgian Bay area is aimed to promote good stewardship of the golf course by the young golfers.  This will be a great opportunity to enhance our professional image as Turfgrass Professionals within our community as the BAGS tour travels throughout the region playing a total of 19 events.  Please help to support our JR golfers and the BAGS tour.  Contact Paul Snider for more information.
