Jay Lavis Memorial Scholarship

The GBGSA has established a $1000 scholarship to be awarded to students enrolled in degree or diploma courses studying Turfgrass Management. Students who have a career goal of being employed in the golfing industry are eligible to apply.

Selection:

Selection for diploma and degree students will be based on academic accomplishments, standings and the content of the application indicating the applicant’s interest in turfgrass management. 
 

Deadline for Applications:

Diploma and degree applications must be received by September 1, 2011. 
 

To Qualify:

  1. The applicant must be attending a recognized university or college in a turfgrass study program.
  2. The applicant must have completed their first year in the diploma or degree course.
  3. The applicant must submit their most recent scholastic transcript showing marks in percent form.
  4. The applicant must be employed by a golf course superintendent member of the GBGSA
  5. The applicant must list his/her most recent golf course superintendent employer and current academic advisor, both of whom may be contacted by the committee.
  6. The applicant must submit a current resume and an essay describing their past achievements and their future goals in the turfgrass industry.
